The program operates on a statewide basis in all counties providing certification (eligibility determination based on State/Federal rules and guidelines) and authorizing issuance of benefits to approximately 250,000 households monthly. The unit must provide for the establishment and implementation of Food Assistance laws, rules, and policies at the state and local levels to ensure applicants receive timely and accurate benefits.
