Reporting to the GGCHC Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director will have responsibility for the professional leadership and management of the organization; execute all plans in adherence to the Vision, Mission, and Goals as stated in the Management Plan (available here:  http://www.gullahgeecheecorridor.org/index.php/about-us/resources/management-plan) utilizing: Fiscal Management, Program Planning and Operations Management, and Public Relations skills. This includes management of technical relations with the National Park Service. Considerable travel may be required.

Executive Director at Forsyth Farmers’ Market (Savannah)

Forsyth Farmers’ Market’s Executive Director is responsible for oversight of all FFM programs, making sure they are running smoothly, working well together and furthering the mission of the organization. This person also serves as the public face of the organization, engaging in advocacy, promotion, and outreach. She or he will oversee other staff and volunteers and report to the board.  The candidate must have demonstrated passion for food issues and farming and preferably have experience in a related field.  This position requires active staff management, creative programming, a nose for finding and following up on possible grants, and the ability to advocate for the market and local food.

Director, Sustainable Food & Agriculture Markets at Conservation International (Arlington)

One of humanity’s greatest challenges is finding ways to produce the food we need for a growing global population and a rising middle class without destroying natural resources upon which food production, and ultimately humanity, depends. Consequently, agriculture is a central element of Conservation International (CI) sustainable Production strategy and soy and palm oil are focal commodities due to the impacts, both positive and negative, that production of these commodities can have on local economies, communities and the environment.  CI’s Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB) leads the Sustainable Production strategy, and this Director position is situated within Sustainable Food and Agriculture Markets (SFAM) program of CELB.  CI’s strategies for sustainable palm oil and soy are built around: 1.) Generating Demand for sustainable palm oil and soy, 2.) Demonstrating sustainable production systems, 3.) Supporting good governance and policy mechanisms to guide the sectors towards sustainability. This strategy is implemented by a range of CI units and divisions. The primary function of this Director position is to lead implementation of CI’s global strategy for generating demand for sustainable palm oil and soy. This position will report to the Vice President, Sustainable Production.
